Meeting — June 4, 2014

The next meeting is scheduled for June 4, 2014 at the U of C Downtown Campus, room 426, at 7 p.m.  As always, the meeting is open to members and non-members.  We’ll be looking at a few UTM disributions this month.  The discussion will touch upon security, traffic shaping and threat management in general.  After the meeting we usually head over to Brewster’s/Beer Revolution, which is within walking distance of meeting location.  Even if you can’t make it to the meeting, you’re welcome to join us for beers.

    Linux/computer Education would be a good topic
    1/ Review of Free courses of entry level to advanced, from organizations like the Linux Foundation
    2/ Roles people in CLUG may take, in Calgary and online
    3/ CLUG members helping out with public wanting to take courses
    4/ Helping schools out with sane FLOSS solutions
    5/ Give students/teachers a preset-up, easy, inexpensive platform to learn programming from
    5/ Spurring people on to realize with help, they can do it
    6/ Helping University students use Linux in sciences and writing papers
    7/ Other ideas about implementing, IE remote collaboration?
    8/ What would it take to gain a Good reputation while doing this?
