Darn it! This is (for Kin) a resend since I realize I once again used a
false Reply address and it won't get through.
Sorry.

taskbar no -> no
window titles -> yes

in linux this is all highly and easily configurable of course (also
config'able on windows, but not nearly as much or as easily)

I dunno. Maybe we're talking about different things here.
To me the ***window title*** is the uppermost bar in a window that also
contains the red 'x' (to close) and in the case of my snapshot in winxp.jpg
'Clug-tech - Outlook Express'.
There's no way that that bar is larger than the bars I at least remember in
Gnome (my default) and I would think they would be the same in KDE, give or
take a pixel. I could get out a ruler and measure these bars in KDE and
WinXP on the very same monitor but I would think my error would be absorbed
within the limitations of such measuring.
Now, as is obvious, I did not choose the default WinXP config. I didn't like
it or the way the Start menu was displayed. I was used to Win95 and so for
easy transition I used the 'classical' display and prettied it up a bit so
that the bars took on a 3D look (and I always use small icons).
But aren't we arguing over nothing? I just for the life of me don't see
'stupid big' bars. I see attractive, compact bars.
