[Clug-tech] Looking for Rsync Reporting Information

Hi All,

I'm running rsync with stats and verbosity on and at the end of a backup 
  I get a report that looks something like this:

Number of files: 2430
Number of files transferred: 27
Total file size: 1.89G bytes
Total transferred file size: 106.11M bytes
Literal data: 23.31M bytes
Matched data: 82.80M bytes
File list size: 62295
Total bytes sent: 119.05K
Total bytes received: 7.75M

I think I understand this report to mean that there the total file size 
of the files that have been selected for backup is 106.11MB. However, 
the actual changes in those files only comprise 23.31MB (the literal 
data) but that theory falls apart when I see that only 7.75MB were sent 
over the wire.

I've Googled around and have read a fair bit about how Rsync works, but 
I haven't found anything that really explains how these numbers relate 
to each other.

Does anyone have any pointers to an explanation of Rsync stats?
