That's my M.O. when not in a GUI. When in a GUI, as Mitchell pointed
out, right-click and 'eject' works well.
I've had the same thing happen and it's annoying. Umount will
unfailingly tell me the drive is busy if it hasn't copied all of its
data regardless of whether the light is on or not.
