Have you guys checked out the U of C? Up in Edmonton ELUG gets free meeting space at the U of A. How many people usually come to meetings? A lot of work places have big meeting areas that might work (I used to work at Transalta and they definitely did have a bunch of big meeting halls).
Hi Everyone,

Most of you know that Devry has been sponsoring CLUG for the last 4 or 5
years by donating our meeting space. Devry has treated us very well
over that time but unfortunately all good things come to an end. Devry
has ended the 100% sponsorship that we've enjoyed to date and instituted
a "setup fee" of $20.00 per meeting from this point forward.

CLUG is a not-for-profit entity and it would cost us about $500/year
under this arrangement. To measure that in memberships, that's the
income CLUG generates from 25 tier-2 memberships.

I'd like to open a discussion regarding where we should meet. Because
we have to consider cost it really opens up the discussion as to when,
where, frequency & duration of our meetings.

Member meetings will continue to be at Devry up-to and including the AGM
on March 4th. At that point it will be up to the 2009/2010 executive to
decide where to meet - but we can do all the investigation and prep work
now.

The next ProgSIG meeting (January 29th) will be held at Devry as usual.
Thereafter ProgSIG meetings will either use the same facility as CLUG
Member meetings or be held at a place designated by the SIG leader
(Shawn Grover).

I would like to go around the room at the February 4th member meeting
and find out where the attendees are arriving from. This is the perfect
opportunity to re-center the meeting location. We can look for
facilities close to our geographic center, keeping in mind if we have
attendees using C-Train etc.

Please give some thought to where we can meet and the cost of meeting
there. The facility should have free Internet access, free parking and
preferably be close to public transportation and have a projector for
presentations.

Thanks,
