Thought people here might be interested in this:

Like DropBox, but using GitHub, or your own Git Servers.  i.e. you 
control it and your data doesn't sit on untrusted servers (unless you 
want it to) but still get the benefits of syncing files/folders between 
your various devices.

The initial project is funded already.  But the project is almost at 
$20k, which means he could work on this project for a full year, rather 
than the initial 3 months he was planning.
