[clug-talk] Fwd: Project: Rebuilding Network - Phase 1 (Lisa's Computer)

I am not sure if this got lost in the shuffle somewhere during a time of
e-mail outage or whatever, but I would like to get this done ASAP as
Lisa's is hounding me for her office & this is one of the barriers for
that to happen.

I have added Likewise working so that AD is being used for
authentication on the Server 2003. Essentially what I would like to see
happen is that Lisa's Home folder (her Linux profile) be saved in the
"Userdata\Home&\Lisa" folder & to have the N drive accessible as well.

 From what I have seen, fstab or smbclient is the way to go, but some of
teh links I have looked at are old so I am not sure what I trust. I
haven't done a lot of reading because time has been extremely short
lately, so the less I have to do at this point the better.

Lisa has given me permission to move her to Linux so long as she can
still function the way she is comfortable with.

I have recently built her a Linux Mint 9 box & have added Likewise to
allow it to authenticate to the Ad domain. I will be adding apps as I
go, but I think for now she is happy with what is there. I am fine with
the adding apps, etc.

For Phase 1, I would like to get the following folders that are
currently mapped as drives on her Windows 2000 box through a batch file
to be mapped & automatically mount on her Linux box when she logs in:
* H Drive (Home Directory): \\Server IP\HOME$\Lisa
* N Drive (Shared Directory): \\Server IP\HOME$\Shared
* Profile Share: \\Server IP\PROFILES$\Lisa
* HOME$ & PROFILES are shares with the actual path
D:\[USERDATA]\PROFILES & D:\[USERDATA]\HOME shared out as hidden shares.

I am utilizing roaming profiles to aid in the centralization, retention
& backup of information, so I would like her user profiles in Linux to
be saved to the 2K3 server.

I am not worried about having her new Linux profiles or settings carried
over from Windows or shared with other OS's.

If you need more information please let me know.
