[clug-talk] Ubuntu OEM mode

Anyone ever tried "OEM mode" on the alternate *buntu CD? Its right under
"Install in text mode" option.

Its exactly like the regular text install, except, you aren't asked to
create a username - only a password. It then tells you that your login is
"oem" and you use the password you setup. You login to the machine with that
login, set it up for the "customer" (install Flash, Java, cd player,
whatever) then, when you're ready to "sell" it, you just run "sudo
oem-prepare-config" and voila - it deletes the OEM user and powers down ...

The next time you boot it up, there's no users on the system. Instead, you
get a nice little "first time setup" wizard similar to XP! The customer sets
their language, username, password, etc. Its very handy for when you're
setting up a box for someone... saves you the hassle of picking their
username, password, and writing it down for them.

Just thought I'd share :)

ps: surely I can't be the only one who wishes the alternate CD was the main
one.. the livecd just slows everything down!
