ssh and screen. While screen is not a network app, it allows me to do
things remotely and then disconnect, while the process/script/apt
continues working. Pretty much use this combo every day.
Thunderbird for email. I like the 3 colum layout on my widescreen
laptop, and I like the threading options.
Konqueror I use all the time as well, especially the fish:// (basically
turns konqueror into an SFTP client)
