[clug-talk] vim editor configuration

Hello All,

How do I set the vim editor configuration so that even while I am
editing a file with vim the filename of the file which I am editing
shows on the screen somewhere. I know this is possible, because when I
was editing files with the vim editor while using Libranet, I could
always see the name of the current file name of the file I was editing
somewhere on the screen even after I hit i for insert.

I miss being able to see what the name of the file I am editing is while
editing. For example, the file name of the file I am editing comes in
handy when I type my daily agenda, because when I get to the agenda item
of "type the agenda for tomorrow (tomorrow's date)" it comes in handy to
see today's date in the file name of the file I am editing.

example: file name is "agenda20060101" is somewhere on the screen and
when I get to type "Type out my agenda for tomorrow Monday 2006 January
2" and I can tell that the current date is Sunday 2006 January 1 because
the file name is "agenda20060101" and I add one to the day of the month.

I can not do that now, because when I edit a file using the vim editor,
the file name disappears when I hit i.

All help in editing the vimrc.local configuration file is appreciated.

Regards,

Michael Walters
