 picture this -
Adobe 6: you design a fillable pdf form with blanks that anyone can fill
in. You put the PDF online on your website and anyone can download the form,
open it with Adobe reader 5,6 or 7 and fill it out and save a copy of the
PDF file locally. They can print it, e-mail the PDF file, or do whatever
they wanted with it.
Adobe 7: you design a fillable pdf form and put it online. Anyone with an
Adobe 7 reader can download and open the file, but to save the PDF file
itself, it costs me (the server operator) 62000 USD (nope its not a typo) to
buy a minimum of 10 'local save-able' form packs. And of course - they will
not let me purchase Adobe 5 Software (pagemaker type stuff), which worked
fine for the forms I have.
A typical corporate website will have a few hundred forms - think of how
many fillable forms revenue canada or immigration canada would have online.
Adobe is going to become either the richest company in the world or is going
out of business.
