this has less to do with which version of kde you are using and more to do
with what operating system you are using as they tend to offer slightly
different means for supporting hardware such as this.
for special keyboard buttons there are various means of accomplishing this
such as lineak (use klineakconfig to configure it) ... you can also go the
long route and map the keys in Xmodmap and then bind them to actions using
khotkeys. really depends on your OS, as i said.
