That is assuming the file itself is a virus and not a file that was infected 
by a virus.  If it's a data file or something important that was "infected" 
by a virus of which you may not have a current backup, the "rm" technique 
won't solve anything.  The file would need to be cleaned.  If it's an actual 
virus file then yes, "rm" works just fine.
