I do hear what you and Kev are saying, but what if you are somewhere where
you cannot download OOo for some reason (not allowed, dialup, etc.)
I am thinking of a quick down and dirty solution that could be easily run
from a USB key from within a windows environment. Or a smaller download
that is easier for someone to install. Essentially a miniature office
suite.

Doesn't your statement kind of answer the question? If readers was
available for OOo perhaps the file formats might become more widely
accepted.
