Hi All,
Recently I had a discussion with the President of the company that runs the
"Recycling" facility at Currie Barracks. I was curious about what they did
with all the stuff that's being dropped off. In no uncertain terms I was
told that they do not reuse anything at all ....Period. Simply put, they
scrap everything the get and sell it all off as parts only.
When I mentioned that there was undoubtedly a lot of items that were
certainly reusable by others I was told that they were not in the business
to reuse anything, only to scrap the lot and sell of the bulk plastic,
glass, wire etc. They did say that items covered under the recent levy are
taken without charges however other items will cost you $0.15/lb to dispose
of.
Enough said, I will not be using these folks for anything. I am also
following up with the appropriate association to voice my opinions.
FWIW,
Dave Watkins
