Hi Gang.

Tonight was our monthly meeting, and we had a good turn out, with 2 new faces.
Welcome to the group Don and Merrick (I hope I spelled those right).

The usual rounds of introductions were done for our new members, and we
discovered a little about the programming backgrounds of a few of the members
present.

We talked a little about fuzzy logic, but not in depth. Then we addressed
Don's questions on where to start programming and what language to pick as
the first.

The consensus was that a lot of this is very personal and depends on the
person doing the learning. After covering some basic language independent
requirements and discussing some pros and cons of various languages, we asked
Don what he was hoping to do with programming. In his particular case it
seems that C/C++ is a suitable choice for him to start out with. It's maybe
not the most friendly language for a first time, but with his background (and
obvious prior research), and his desired goals it seemed to be a good choice.

We also had a short discussion on what we wanted the group to do or focus on.
While this is an important topic, we tabled it for a future meeting when most
of our members are back from summer vacation and/or responsibilities.

That about sums up our open discussion. Hope to see you there at the next
meeting.

Shawn
